The House of Quality Worksheet

The House of Quality worksheet is the main worksheet of the QFD1 component. It shows the QFD1 matrix together with benchmarking tables and the inter relationship matrix of the CTQs / Functions.

    VOC
    VOC - Voice of the Customer: hierarchical structure of system and customer requirements. Collect all requirements based on customer benefit. Build a structure of groups and sub-items.

    Importance
    Importance rating for VOC. Created by one of the available prioritization methods, e.g. AHP.

    CTQ / Functional Requirements
    CTQ - critical to quality. This is the hierarchical structure of product functions and critical technical requirements. Collect all technical requirements defining the quality of the product functions. If possible, place technical requirements inside a product function. Use and to change functions into CTQ or vice versa. Use ConstraintConstraint on technical specifications that cannot be optimized, e.g. technical standards.

    QFD Matrix
    Does improving the Functional Requirement help to better satisfy the VOC need?

    CTQ Importance
    Table of importance values for the CTQs / functions. Values here usually are calculated from VOC importance and the central QFD 1 matrix using the linear mapping calculation method. The chart at the bottom edge shows importance values as bar graphs.

    VOC Benchmarking
    The columns of this table are the competitive products and the predecessor of your new product. For each VOC answer the following question: How good does the listed product (column) meet the customer requirement (row)? Use a scale from -- (non acceptable = 0) to ++ (exceeds expectations = 10). The chart at the right edge shows a line graph for each competitor.

    CTQ Benchmarking
    The rows of this table are the competitive products and the predecessor of your new product. For each CTQ and competitor enter how good this product fullfills the technical requirement. You can use a drop down list with qualitative values (++, +, o, -, --) or enter real values. If you want to use real values, you have to edit the Scores table on worksheet CTQ Benchmarking as well. The chart at the bottom shows a line graph for each competitor.
